Your recommendations are appreciated. Thank you!

Just one more thing… If I am continuing the tile past the Wedi boards in the shower area, throughout the other walls in the bathroom, will I need to replace the drywall? If so, what do you recommend as a base forĀ  wall tile that is not in the shower?

    Hi Steve,

The size of the shower will be 36 x 36″ (the drain is at 15-1/2″ and 18″ from the walls, so not centered in both directions. Also, The height of the room is 108″ on the plumbing wall and 84″ on the opposite side of the shower where the glass wall will go(36″ from the plumbing wall). The far right of the room is only 52″ high.

I thought I would buy the 36″x48″ Wedi Fundo Primo Shower Base with Drain Assembly. With the extra 12″ on this paticular base, I can cut 3-1/2″ and 8-1/2″ off each side of the 48″ length to meet the off-center drain.

After doing the math, I found buying components separately is slightly cheaper, but close enough even with the addition of the Full Foam Curb 4 1/2″ x 5″ x 8′, so my shopping list will be the 36×48 Wedi Fundo Primo Shower Kit plus the 8′ curb.

I’m planning on having a glass company install a frameless glass door and wall. I think the Foam Curbs are built to support the weight of the glass.

Additionally, I want to continue tile on the walls and floor and I’m not sure exactly what materials I will need as a base. In other words, do I need to replace the drywall with backer board to add tile? Also, How do I prep the subfloor for tile?

    Thanks for the help!

    Chris
